At the same time that Amber Heard’s film “In the Fire” made its world premiere at the Taormina Film Festival, Johnny Depp carried on with his rock band The Hollywood Vampires tour.
One day after Amber Heard triumphantly made a comeback to the red carpet at an Italian film festival, Johnny Depp performed in Paris on Sunday.
With his Hollywood Vampires bandmates Joe Perry and Alice Cooper, Depp, 60, continued his tour on Sunday with a performance at the Zénith in Paris.
The actor assumed the role of frontman for several songs during the set list, including the lead vocals on a cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes.”
Depp engaged the crowd by smiling, waving at, and thanking fans with his fist raised in the air. All through the night, he could be seen throwing guitar picks to the crowd.
The Hollywood Vampires’ performance at Hellfest earlier this month, according to Phoebe, 19, of Paris, inspired her to see them live once more. “In movies, I’ve seen him as a pirate. I had no idea Depp was such a talented musician, she claims.
During the performance, Depp paid tribute to Jeff Beck, a friend and fellow musician who passed away in January. Depp gave an emotional explanation of the significance of the white Stratocaster guitar that had been centre stage on a riser for the majority of the performance.
Jeff Beck was a close friend of all of us who recently passed away. His birthday was the day before. I’d like to introduce you to a friend of his. He referred to his Strat as his best friend.
His ex-wife Heard, 37, attended the 69th Taormina Film Festival in Italy the day before Depp’s concert in Paris to see her independent film In the Fire have its world premiere.
She attended several of the festival’s activities over the course of the weekend, including the premiere of her movie, where she spoke with PEOPLE about the movie, which was finished shooting in March 2022, months before the Virginia trial got underway.
In the meantime, Depp’s French film Jeanne Du Barry premiered at Cannes in May, where he signed autographs, received standing ovations, posed for pictures on the red carpet, and answered questions from journalists about whether the film signalled his comeback. He asserts that he never left the house.
The film Jeanne Du Barry will also be screened at the Taormina Film Festival on June 30, but Depp, who plays King Louis XV in the drama, isn’t expected to attend.

In December, Depp and Heard settled their defamation lawsuit. He claimed that the $1 million she gave him would be donated to five different charities.
Heard previously stated of the settlement: “I have made no admission.” Heard will also appear in the Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom sequel, which will hit theatres this December. In no way is this a concession. My voice has no restrictions or gags going forward.
