Could Disney be bringing Johnny Depp back to the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series after letting him go from the Jack Sparrow role due to the recent defamation trial he had with his ex-wife, Amber Heard?
Sean Bailey, president of Disney, is now addressing the issue.
Can Johnny Depp Return As Jack Sparrow?
Although Johnny Depp has played numerous roles in both film and television, Captain Jack Sparrow is one of his most well-known personas. Depp played the cunning pirate in all five “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies.
Due to allegations made by his ex-wife, Amber Heard, Disney fired the actor and declared that Depp would not be appearing in the sixth “Pirates of the Caribbean” film. Instead, Margot Robbie would play the lead in an original franchise spin-off. Disney announced that it had abandoned those plans last year, and it now appears that they may be taking a different approach with the films.
Sean Bailey, president of Disney Studio Motion Picture Production, finally addressed the future of “Pirates of the Caribbean” and whether Johnny Depp will reprise his role as the recognisable Jack Sparrow in an interview with the New York Times.
When questioned about Johnny Depp’s involvement in the potential movie, Bailey responded that Disney was “noncommittal at this point.”
Johnny Depp Said He Would Not Return As Jack Sparrow :
That Depp would never reprise his role as Jack Sparrow was verified. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor answered, “My feeling was that these characters should be able to have their proper goodbye” when Depp’s lawyer Jessica Meyers asked him during the redirect if he would return to the series. A franchise like that can be ended in a certain way.
The “Pirates” actor also mentioned during the redirection of his evidence that he found out he would be recast as Jack Sparrow from a news story quoting a Disney official just a few days after Heard’s Op-Ed was printed in The Washington Post.
