At a memorial concert for his buddy Jeff Beck, the actor performed guitar in London alongside Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton, and others.
Johnny Depp returned to the spotlight on Monday night for a tribute concert in memory of his late friend Jeff Beck after just appearing at the Cannes Film Festival.
Depp, 59, joined legends including Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton, and Ronnie Wood on stage at London’s Royal Albert Hall to pay respect to the musician, who passed away in January at the age of 78.
According to a video Stewart uploaded to Instagram, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor performed guitar on stage while sporting a denim blue hat. The “Maggie May” singer danced next to Depp in one clip as he grooved and offered him a supportive pat on the back.
A great time was had yesterday night by our friend Jeff, who was joined by many excellent players, friends, and family. awaiting tonight’s rerun with anticipation!
Depp and Beck were good friends who had toured together and made the album 18 together. The actor has also claimed that Beck and his wife Sandra allowed him to live with them for a period of time prior to the start of the tour.
Depp was among those who paid Beck a visit at his bedside before his passing, a source told PEOPLE in January.
Nearly a year after the conclusion of his contentious defamation battle with his ex-wife Amber Heard, Depp recently made an appearance at Cannes in France, where his new French-language picture Jeanne Du Barry had its world premiere last week.
At a press event for the film on Wednesday, Depp said he felt “boycotted” in the wake of the high-profile court proceedings and that he believed that people had been duped by “fiction.”
Do I currently feel boycotted? He went on. Not at all, no. But because I don’t consider it, I don’t feel like Hollywood is shunning me. I do not consider Hollywood. I don’t need Hollywood all that much more.
In response to the Amber Heard case and a libel case in London in 2020, he also addressed the notion of making a “comeback” and assured reporters that he had never left.
Depp “is doing fantastic” a year after the trial, a source close to the actor told PEOPLE this week.
He is truly enjoying his career and touring once more. His life has changed for the better, according to the source. He is putting his well-being and career first. People close to him were concerned since he was leading a disastrous life. Everyone is thrilled with how he changed the course of events. He’s also a lot happier.
