Britney Spears Reveals Her Team Painted Her as an ‘Eternal Virgin,’ Despite Her First Sexual Experience at 14

The pop singer writes in her new memoir, “The Woman in Me,” “Whose business was it if I’d had sex or not?”

Britney Spears claims that throughout her early years in the spotlight, the nation’s fixation on her virginity tormented her.

In her autobiography, The Woman in Me, the pop star discloses that her group depicted her “as an eternal virgin” despite having her first sexual experience at the age of 14.

In the book, Britney, now 41, discusses her sexual experience: “The media and my handlers had long tried to paint me as an eternal virgin who hasn’t had sex since she was fourteen.”

The singer of “Lucky” continues, “Why did my managers put in so much effort to portray me as some sort of young-girl virgin even into my twenties?”

In her 2008 biography Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World, her mother Lynne Spears stated that her daughter had also lost her virginity at the age of 14.

Britney gives Oprah Winfrey credit in her latest book for reminding her that her “sexuality was no one else’s business.”

Along with other pop singers of the era, such as Jessica Simpson and Christina Aguilera, Britney discovered that her virginity became a hot topic of conversation nationwide.

However, Timberlake was questioned about his personal life with Spears when he went on The Star & Buc Wild Morning Show in 2002.

The “Cry Me a River” singer grinned and said, “Sure,” when Barbara Walters, the host of that infamous 20/20 interview in 2002, questioned if he and Britney had kept her vow to wait until marriage.

In a 2002 interview with W Magazine, Britney disclosed that she had slept with Timberlake, her ex-boyfriend. She admitted to the site, “I’ve only slept with one person in my entire life.” I had been seeing Justin for two years at that point, and I believed he was the one. But I was in error! I didn’t anticipate that he would sell me out on Barbara Walters.”

Spears’ much awaited autobiography was published on Tuesday by Simon & Schuster’s Gallery Books label.
