Do you have any doubts about Farfetch’s legitimacy? After spent thousands of dollars with this internet company, this is my honest Farfetch review. If you’re wondering if Farfetch sells counterfeit designer items, what their shipping and return policy is, and whether I recommend shopping on Farfetch… This is the article for you.
How Does Farfetch Work?
Farfetch is a London-based online luxury fashion marketplace. They connect customers all around the world with over 1,400 of the world’s most prestigious brands, designers, boutiques, and department stores. Farfetch sells goods by Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Saint Laurent, Balmain, and other brands.
Farfetch has a different business model than other third-party luxury websites and department shops in that they do not own the merchandise sold on the site. Farfetch works with brands and designers directly to sell their products on the marketplace, and many things ship directly from the designer or company. To put it another way, Farfetch’s technology aims to make it the Amazon of the premium industry.
Why is Farfetch Cheaper?
I’m not sure how Farfetch is less expensive than buying directly from the designer. In fact, I believe it should be more expensive. This is due to the fact that, once again, Farfetch does not own the things they offer. They make money by selling designer and boutique items and collecting a commission. And the prices you see on Farfetch are determined by the designers and brands.
HOWEVER, Farfetch can occasionally be less expensive than purchasing directly from the designer. As previously said, I purchased one YSL bag and one Tory Burch bag from Farfetch. The Tory Burch bag was purchased from Tory Burch in the United Kingdom (I am based in the United States).
I actually saved roughly $240 by getting it from Farfetch rather than directly from Tory Burch UK. If you don’t trust me, you can compare these costs for yourself…
However, the YSL bag I ordered was $100 more expensive than ordering directly from YSL. However, the colour I desired for this purse is not available on YSL.com. Farfetch was the only website where I could find it. As a result, I was willing to pay the extra $100 to get the colour I desired. (Again, I’m perplexed that it’s accessible on Farfetch rather than YSL.com – it shipped directly from the same warehouse where YSL.com ships from.)
How long does Farfetch shipping take? And where does Farfetch ship from?
The shipping time and location for Farfetch will vary depending on the item you order. This is because Farfetch does not always fulfil orders. It will depend on the store or designer the item is purchased from.
Farfetch will provide you with an anticipated delivery time for each item, which is located directly below the “add to bag” button.
However, in my experience, delivery estimates are not always correct. The Tory Burch purse I ordered took an extra 5 days to arrive. The YSL bag, on the other hand, arrived within the estimated shipment time.
Are Farfetch Items Authentic?
Given that the things are typically supplied straight from the designers, you’d think it’s safe to assume they’re genuine. However, as I typically do with these posts, I ordered a Rive Gauche bag from YSL at the same time to compare it to the Rive Gauche tote I ordered from Farfetch. (I also did this since I wasn’t sure if I wanted a purse with leather or fabric handles.)
As a result, these bags will differ in that one will have leather accents and the other will be cotton. Of course, the colours differ as well. However, details such as the stitching, branding, and interior can still be compared.
Farfetch’s Return Policy:
So I got all of these bags since I needed a new summer/beach bag and needed it before I leave for Curaçao in February. I only needed one bag for this, and I ended up enjoying the Tory Burch bag the best (especially considering the price).
Both of the YSL Rive Gauche Tote Bags were returned to me. One was purchased from YSL and the other from Farfetch. FedEx delivered them both to the same address.
But here’s where things get interesting…
According to YSL’s return policy, things must be returned within 30 days of receipt.
Farfetch’s return policy stipulates that things must be returned within 14 days of receipt.
I also returned both of these things at the same time, and they arrived to the warehouse at the same time. It also took them nearly the same length of time to offer me a refund (just around 6 hours after I received the things).
However, YSL’s refund arrived in my bank account just a few days after it was granted. Farfetch’s reimbursement is still not in my account, despite the fact that it was provided a week ago. (However, Farfetch does say that it may take up to 14 days to arrive.)
Farfetch Customer Service:
When I tried to return the YSL Rive Gauche bag, the Farfetch website gave me an error message. I emailed Farfetch customer service about it. However, the error warning resolved itself within a few minutes, and I had no trouble arranging a return via the website.
Farfetch customer support did, however, contact me and was quite pleasant and helpful. However, it took them between 6 and 12 hours to respond to an email. If you require a faster response, I would call them.
So, Will I Be Shopping on Farfetch Again?
If I ever find myself in a scenario where Farfetch is the cheapest alternative or the only merchant carrying an item in a colour or size that I require, I will not hesitate to order from them again. I am not concerned that they are selling counterfeit designer things, and their customer service appears to be satisfactory in my experience.
That said, I won’t go out of my way to shop on Farfetch because a 14-day return window is a little too short for me! I was so accustomed to having 30 days to return an item that I nearly missed the return window.
